Job Title:
CNC Setup Machinist Lead Job Description Lead the setup and operation of a variety of CNC machining centers and turning centers while ensuring high precision, consistent quality, and efficient production in a modern machine shop environment. Responsibilities Operate a variety of CNC machining centers and CNC turning centers to produce precision components. Set up CNC machines, including selecting, installing, and aligning tooling and workholding devices. Work with and consistently achieve tight tolerances on parts, ensuring all dimensions meet specifications. Inspect and verify parts using gauges, calipers, and micrometers, and document measurement results accurately. Position, align, and securely clamp workpieces in the machine to ensure safe and accurate machining. Use locating fixtures when required to maintain repeatability and accuracy in production runs. Select and prepare tools to match varying materials, cutting conditions, and job requirements. Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining processes and requirements. Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity. Support a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards and procedures. Essential Skills At least 5 years of CNC experience with setups in a production or job shop environment. Proficiency in operating CNC vertical machining centers. Proficiency in operating CNC horizontal machining centers. Proficiency in operating CNC turning centers. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Strong skill in using gauges, calipers, and micrometers for precise measurement. Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances on machined parts. Experience positioning, aligning, and securing workpieces using appropriate workholding methods. Ability to select and prepare cutting tools based on material and machining conditions. Attention to detail and strong documentation habits for recording inspection results. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with CNC equipment from brands such as Mazak, Makino, Puma, Hyundai Kia/Wia, and Haas. Comfort working with locating fixtures to improve repeatability and accuracy. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a production setting. Ability to work effectively with others on the shop floor and support a collaborative environment. Willingness to adapt to new machines and technologies as the shop continues to invest in equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Hartland, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
