Comments and Other InformationQUALIFICATIONS
- Previous coaching experience in the field of Head Coach for Varsity Cheer at the high school level or above preferred.
- An ability to successfully develop and manage a Varsity Cheer program.
- Knowledge and experience in regard to Cheer coaching techniques and evidence of the ability to convey effectively those techniques to the young student athletes.
- The ability to demonstrate leadership for a successful Cheer program and provide a positive environment that will build school spirit and pride.
- Possess and will provide a valid First Aid/CPR certificate from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS Concussion in Sports through http://www.nfhslearn.com.
- Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest through http://www.nfhslearn.com.
- Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS Heat Illness Prevention through http://www.nfhslearn.com.
- Possess and will provide a certificate of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching through http://www.nfhslearn.com.
- Possess and will provide a copy of a current Mantoux, PPD or TST Tuberculosis test results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a positive environment for the team.
- Consult Cheer Advisor on all team member and parent communication when decision making and potential discipline.
- Acting as a liaison between the school and the community to promote a positive image for the Pep Squad-Cheer Program.
- Attend and manage summer practice schedule.
- Attend and manage practices during 1st period and structured tutorial. This will involve preparation for sideline cheer, competitions, and pep rallies as well as ensuring the team is condition for their athletic performances.
- Organization, scheduling, and attend practices for competition outside of the normal 1st period time as needed for squad.
- Attend games and other activities as required by program.
- Choreograph routines for pep rallies and competition.
- Responsible to ensure proper coaching and supervision for all games.
- Attend and manage competitions as entered by the team.
- Organization of summer camp(s) and off-season program such as preparing for pep rallies on school site fundraisers commitments that the Cheer organizes.
