The Auto Body Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition or better. This role requires knowledge of automotive paint systems, surface preparation techniques, color matching, and safety procedures. Key Responsibilities Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning. Mix and match paint colors using computerized color-matching equipment and manufacturer formulas. Apply basecoat, and clearcoat finishes using spray guns and related equipment. Inspect vehicles for imperfections and perform touch-ups as needed. Maintain paint booth cleanliness and ensure all equipment is properly maintained. Follow OSHA and shop safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials. Work closely with body technicians and estimators to ensure quality repairs and timely completion. Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed. Ensure finished work meets company quality standards and customer expectations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience as an auto body painter or automotive refinishing technician preferred. Knowledge of automotive paint systems, preparation methods, and refinishing techniques. Ability to use spray guns, sanders, buffers, and other body shop equipment. Strong attention to detail and color accuracy. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Valid driver's license. I-CAR or 3M certification is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to paint fumes, dust, and noise. Ability to wear protective equipment, including respirators and safety gear.
