- Part-time Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Commercial Refrigeration Technician and HVAC specialist to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial refrigeration systems and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment across a variety of property types. Your expertise in mechanical systems, schematics, and field service operations will ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency of critical climate control and refrigeration assets. Duties Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration units including ammonia refrigeration systems and HVAC equipment such as air conditioning units, boilers, and ventilation systems. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan. Conduct plumbing work related to refrigeration and HVAC systems, including pipe fitting, leak detection, and system flushing. Utilize tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing and welding equipment for repairs requiring metal fabrication or component replacement. Diagnose mechanical problems using mechanical knowledge combined with diagnostic tools; repair or replace faulty components efficiently. Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, incident logs, and maintenance documentation in compliance with safety standards. Operate a driver vehicle safely for transportation of parts or equipment as needed. Support property maintenance tasks that enhance overall facility operations including appliance repair and general mechanical troubleshooting. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician specializing in commercial refrigeration systems, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration), or related mechanical fields. Strong knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, ammonia refrigeration technology, and boiler operation. Hands-on experience with equipment repair including welding techniques; familiarity with electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters is essential. Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues involving compressors, fans, pumps, valves, thermostats, and control systems. Field service experience working directly on-site at commercial properties; ability to read blueprints and technical manuals accurately. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating specialized vehicles or driver certification preferred. Ability to work in physically demanding environments requiring standing, bending, lifting heavy equipment safely; willingness to perform maintenance tasks at heights or confined spaces when necessary. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges; strong communication skills for collaboration with team members and clients.
