This position performs administrative support duties for the District 4700 Office of the Minnesota State Patrol. The administrative duties include maintenance of the Mandatory Inspection Program (MIP), updating inspectors in the data base, issuing decals and creating correspondence to inspectors. This position enters data into State Patrol Activity System (SPAIS) program and verify data from e-citations and e-warnings. The incumbent will process requests for office supplies, uniforms, and equipment; answer telephones and provide customer service to internal and external customers as well as other administraive functions. The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • + Ability to read source documents and enter data in specific databases or tracking systems; Accurately input, verify, and edit electronic data + Ability to prepare, edit, and finalize emails, memos, reports, and/or other documents and types of written communication that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors + Skill in customer service sufficient to Provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence + Skill in document and records management sufficient to maintain electronic or paper files for efficient organization and retrieval of information + Skill in typing/keyboarding, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner + Skill in customer service to respectfully engage with clients, coworkers and customers, when handling difficult or complex problems and resolving escalated complaints or disputes •Preferred Qualifications•+ Experience with SWIFT (Statewide Integrated Financial Tool System), Employee Self-Service, CAD, data privacy rules, policies and procedures + Database management with strong organizational and time management skills + Data practices knowledge or experience + Experience using a multi-line telephone system + Experience providing administrative support in Law Enforcement + Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities •Physical Requirements•Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently.
Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require position self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods
