Communicable Disease Nurse

Full-Time Community Health Nurse - Ford County Public Health Department The Ford County Public Health Department is seeking a dedicated and self-directed Community Health Nurse to join our team. This vital role reports directly to the Public Health Administrator and is essential for delivering comprehensive public health services to our community.

Responsibilities Include:

Providing professional nursing care, including immunizations, DNA testing, and managing vaccines. Conducting various health screenings such as blood pressure, TB skin tests, paternity tests, and pregnancy tests. Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records and submitting timely reports. Planning and executing community health nursing activities, offering health counseling, and coordinating health programs. Assisting with and/or managing key public health initiatives, including Emergency Preparedness, Tobacco cessation, and Opioids epidemic response. Ensuring a safe environment for clients and effective use of resources. Actively participating in ongoing professional development and mandatory educational programs.

Qualifications:

Current RN or LPN license in Illinois, or eligibility to obtain within six months of employment. Compliance with accepted professional standards. Self-directed with excellent organizational, observation, and communication skills (oral and written). Possession of current CPR certification. Flexibility, cooperation, good physical stamina, and mental health. Must be a licensed driver with an insured and reliable automobile for work use.

Working Conditions:

This position involves a general office environment, community and school settings, and may require travel by automobile. There may be exposure to infectious diseases.

Pay:

$62,000.00 - $69,000.00 per year
