The Communications Division operates a 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year statewide emergency communications systems, which includes seven centers. The division provides emergency dispatch services for the Washington State Patrol, and 18 other State, Federal, and Tribal Agencies on contract basis including Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Board, State Parks, U.S. Marshal and Muckleshoot Tribal Police. Duties A CO2's primary responsibility is to efficiently multi-task technologies answering emergency 911 and business phone calls, entering and updating calls for service and self-initiated activity into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Computer system and transmitting and receiving radio communications from field personnel. Our new trainer will be able to: Provide on the job training and evaluate new employees in the key work activities. Use formalized training material. Act as a resource. Provide professional customer service using skills learned to manage and control emergency calls. Use resources such as CAD, computer mapping, and access to sensitive databases to provide timely support and service. Consistently provide exceptional customer service. Project a positive attitude, proactively and willingly assist others in performance of their duties or in a responding to requests from customers. Practice situational awareness and be a problem solver. Earn the trust, respect, and confidence of leadership, co-workers and customers. Maintain confidentiality of information accessed or discussed in performing the work of this position. Analyze, troubleshoot, consult, and document emergencies. Transmit, broadcast, control, and operate multi-frequency two-way radio console. Monitor officer safety status constantly. Apply advanced telecommunicator skills to quickly assess and determine the proper course of action to provide the most efficient and appropriate response during mission critical situations. Manage multiple frequencies to provide timely responses to units in the field. Transmit and receive communications. Complete multiple tasks and technologies simultaneously. Explain information. Actively listen. Use call control skills. Identify their need for police, fire, medical aid, traffic control etc. and locate the proper jurisdiction for response. Utilize multi-line phones, 911 line, business lines, computer mapping equipment, and computer aided dispatch (CAD). Dispatch calls for service. Communicate with field units via radio and provide requested support by investigating information through law enforcement sensitive databases, calling tows, coordinating aid, Life Flight, bomb squads, other tactical teams, confirming warrants, missing person records, stolen property, stolen vehicles, and memorializing all information into CAD logs. Perform inquiries and interpret information from law enforcement sensitive databases. Accurately enter alphanumeric data into computer systems. Use computer hardware and software (i.e. data management programs such as CAD, ACCESS, etc.). Making notifications to executive command staff, federal highway personnel and Department of Transportation (DOT) concerning major incidents affecting the highways and other events via email, phone, etc.Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Current WSP employee with one years experience as a Communications Officer 1 within the last two years. High School Diploma or Equivalent. Why work for the Washington State Patrol?
