Job Description
Become a part of a dedicated team! The City of Bristol, VA is seeking a Community Development Specialist to join in our efforts in supporting the daily operation of local City government. Your role will be integral in supporting the health, growth and welfare of our community, and fulfilling our mission to making Bristol a "Good Place to Live." The Office of Community Development works with boards, commissions, and citizens to guide land use and future development in the City of Bristol. This office also administers state and federal funding for transportation planning and the Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG). This position reports to the Community Development Director and is responsible for developing and submitting CDBG applications and assuring compliance with Community Development Block Grant Funding as approved by City Council. Duties include preparing the annual CDBG application to federal government (HUD) to secure funding as well as preparing and completing five-year Consolidated Plans, annual CAPERs (Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report), and acting as Proxy for the Northeast
TN/VA HOME
Consortium. Identifies private, state, and federal grant funding in addition to the CDBG for City projects and programs; prepares applications and provides grant oversight and administration. Successful applicants will have experience with collecting and interpreting demographic data, experience dealing with federal assistance programs, grants preparation and administration, and excellent organizational skills. Experience with HUD and IDIS systems preferred. Bachelor's degree in planning, administration or related field preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.
