Job Description
Trauma Informed Care is an approach to engaging people with histories of trauma that recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role that trauma has played in their lives. Trauma Informed Care also acknowledges the effects of working with trauma survivors on our workforce and seeks to build collaborative and supportive working environments and relationships. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Entry-level professional positions begin at this level. Provide home and community-based family services, including crisis intervention, counseling, skill building and advocacy. This is a 24-hours a day, seven days a week program.Work Schedule:
full and part time hours, including evenings and weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Must be able to maintain a flexible, accessible, and responsive work schedule.
- Have skills in assisting youth in navigating formal and informal systems
- Advocates for the youth and builds advocacy skills with the youth.
- Provides individualized coaching and skill building
- Schedule and complete client intake according to program policy.
- Conduct holistic, strength-focused assessment process.
- Provide a range of clinical, concrete and advocacy services to family members that are consistent with the family's values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances, and culture.
- Be aware of and respond appropriately to potential safety issues.
- Provide in-the-home and on-site education and skill building activities.
- Provide culturally and ethnically appropriate family services and intervention strategies.
- Utilize motivational enhancement and cognitive/behavioral strategies.
- Utilize a collaborative goal setting and teaching approach.
- Use effective strategies for engaging, defusing, and confronting clients through collaborative problem-solving techniques.
- Develop and facilitate linkages for youth and families with community resources and informal supports.
- Solicit feedback and input from the youth and family about all aspects of the intervention.
- Implement discharge process at end of intervention.
- Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
- Is prompt and accurate in completing all required reports, statistics, and other requirements.
- Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
- Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
- Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
- Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal or external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or video media.
- Creates, maintains and shares as appropriate a dynamic self-care plan.
- Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible to contribute to the agency's ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.
- Essential functions of this job are to be performed on company physical work site.
- Performs other program related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred
- Experience with in-home services preferred
- Valid Driver's license, acceptable driving record, must pass background checks as well.
