Job Description

About the Role Oak is seeking a Composites Technician with hands-on experience in wet layup, vacuum infusion, and pre-preg composite fabrication methods . This role is for someone who understands the full lifecycle of composite part production, from mold preparation to final finishing , and can deliver showroom-quality automotive-grade components. As part of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for fabricating high-quality composite parts, ensuring proper curing processes, and executing all necessary post-processing steps such as trimming, sanding, buffing, and painting. Attention to detail is critical, as our parts must meet aerospace and high-end automotive aesthetic and structural standards . Additionally, while not a requirement, experience with part duplication —taking an existing part, refining its surface, and creating a mold to replicate it—is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Composite Fabrication & Processing Perform wet layup, vacuum infusion, and pre-preg composite fabrication processes to produce high-quality parts. Prepare and apply resins, fibers, and core materials while ensuring proper material placement. Handle vacuum bagging, curing, and de-molding processes. Monitor curing cycles and adjust as necessary to achieve optimal results. Post-Processing & Finishing Trim, sand, and refine cured parts to meet tight tolerances and aesthetic requirements. Buff and polish parts to showroom-quality automotive finishes when applicable. Perform bonding, painting, and sealing as needed. Mold Preparation & Maintenance Clean and prep molds for repeated layups, ensuring release agents are applied properly. Repair and maintain molds to ensure consistent part quality and longevity. Additional Valued Skills (Desired but not required) Ability to duplicate existing parts : Sand, bondo, and prep customer-supplied parts to create high-quality molds. Use those molds to manufacture composite replicas with precision. Qualifications Hands-on experience in composite fabrication using wet layup, infusion, and pre-preg methods . Strong understanding of resins, fabrics (carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar), and curing cycles . Experience in trimming, sanding, buffing, and painting composite parts to high visual and structural standards. Ability to read and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Skilled at mold preparation and maintenance to ensure high-quality, defect-free parts. Familiarity with automotive-grade or aerospace composite standards is a plus.
