Regional Compression Manager Position Summary:
The Compression Mechanic is a specialized technician responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment that compresses natural gas (stationary CNG Terminals) and booster mobile compressors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspection and Diagnosis:
Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests on CNG compressors to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes, and tuning CNG engines. Also, handling complex repairs related to the CNG fuel system, engine components, and vehicle systems.
CNG System Installation:
Installing, repairing, and maintaining CNG fuel systems, storage tanks, regulators, pressure gauges, and related components.
Safety Compliance:
Ensuring that CNG compressors meet safety standards and comply with regulatory requirements for CNG fuel systems and components.
Emissions Testing:
Conducting emissions tests to ensure that CNG compressors meet emission standards set by local and federal authorities.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repairs performed on CNG compressors, including parts used, procedures followed, and test results.
Troubleshooting:
Identifying and resolving technical problems related to CNG systems, performance, and emissions.
Collaboration:
Coordinating with other mechanics, team members, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
Upgrading and Retrofitting:
Recommending and implementing upgrades or retrofits to enhance the performance, efficiency, and safety of existing CNG compressors.
Safety Practices:
Adhering to strict safety protocols when handling CNG fuel systems and equipment to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
Training and Education:
Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in CNG technology, attending training sessions, and obtaining certifications as needed to enhance skills and knowledge.
Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly. Experience performing alignments Formal education or technical training in automotive mechanics or a related field. Specialized training in CNG systems and technologies is highly desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of CNG fuel systems, engine components, and vehicle electronics. Familiarity with safety regulations and guidelines related to CNG compressors. Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret diagnostic codes. Experience in automotive repair shops, gas stations, or fleet maintenance facilities is an advantage. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Physical stamina and dexterity to handle various tasks in a mechanical environment.
