The Concession Cashier/Line Cook is responsible for providing excellent customer service at the register as well as preparing food in the kitchen to ensure quality and efficiency. Working under the direction of the Team Lead, the Cashier/Line Cook ensures that orders are received, food is prepared to order, meets quality standards, and is served promptly to customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. This position is located at the
Metuchen Municipal Pool Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional service in a friendly and professional manner. Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and process orders through the point-of-sale system. Answer customer questions, provide information about menu items, and address special requests or dietary restrictions. Maintain a clean and organized cashier station. Manage customer orders efficiently. Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, specifications, and menu standards. Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and stovetops, ensuring they are used safely and effectively. Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. Cook food to the correct temperature, ensuring safety and flavor. Ensure that all orders are completed in a timely manner, especially during peak hours. Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment. Ensure all food is stored properly according to food safety standards and regulations. Assist in checking inventory levels, rotating stock, and notifying supervisors of any shortages or needed supplies. Help with restocking and replenishing food items as needed during shifts. Follow all local, state, and federal food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items. Work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, especially during peak service times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Culinary training or coursework is a plus. Prior experience in a similar role preferred. Experience using kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, ovens, etc.) is required. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, especially when following recipes and food preparation guidelines. Ability to work well with others and take direction from management. Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with staff.
Certifications:
Food Handler Certification, ServSafe Certification or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to perform tasks such as lifting, chopping, or cooking.
