Job Title:
Concrete Form Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on constructing, installing, and repairing concrete formwork systems for heavy industrial structures, including foundations, walls, columns, and slabs. You will work closely with project crews to ensure all formwork aligns with project blueprints, structural specifications, and strict safety standards. The position offers consistent 50 to 60-hour work weeks with significant overtime and is ideal for skilled tradespeople who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities Build, set, and strip wood, metal, and prefabricated concrete forms for foundations, walls, columns, and slabs, including systems such as Symons and Advance. Read and interpret construction blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions, layouts, and material requirements. Establish elevations and grades using surveying and measuring equipment to ensure accurate layout and alignment of formwork. Position, tie, and secure rebar, wire mesh, embeds, and anchor bolts prior to concrete pours to meet structural requirements. Form footings and walls according to project plans and applicable standards. Place, float, level, and finish concrete to achieve the required surface quality and structural integrity. Strip formwork safely and efficiently after concrete has cured, ensuring forms and hardware are cleaned and stored properly. Communicate directly with supervisors or leads on daily goals, progress, and any issues affecting schedule or quality. Provide direction to laborers on tasks to be completed and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently. Assist in teaching laborers the concrete trade, sharing knowledge of proper techniques, tools, and safety practices. Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and assembling formwork components. Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all site safety procedures and guidelines. Essential Skills Proven experience in concrete construction, including formwork, rebar placement, and concrete finishing. Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, sketches, and specifications. Demonstrated skill in tying rebar and installing reinforcement such as wire mesh, embeds, and anchor bolts. Hands-on experience forming footings and walls for heavy industrial or similar concrete structures. Proficiency in placing, floating, finishing, and leveling concrete to specified tolerances. Extensive knowledge of power tools commonly used in concrete and carpentry work. Proficiency with basic hand tools required for formwork and concrete carpentry. Capability to communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members regarding daily goals and work plans. Ability to provide direction to laborers and support their development in the concrete trade. Willingness and availability to work overtime as needed, including long work weeks. Physical ability to climb ladders, handle demanding 10-hour days, and lift at least 70-80 pounds. Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods. Reliable transportation to and from job sites. Knowledge of floating, finishing, and leveling concrete surfaces to meet quality standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with a self-performing general contractor or concrete company. Experience with concrete form systems such as Symons and Advance. Experience in construction, carpentry, framing, and finish work. Familiarity with general labor tasks on construction sites. OSHA 10 certification preferred. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Interest in mentoring and teaching less experienced laborers in the concrete trade. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work primarily outdoors in the elements, Monday through Saturday from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., often completing 10-hour days. The role requires consistent physical effort, including lifting up to 70 pounds, climbing ladders, and performing repetitive tasks on active construction sites. You will use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and formwork systems while collaborating closely with field crews in a heavy industrial construction setting. Work conditions vary with the weather, so you should be prepared for heat, cold, wind, and other outdoor conditions, and wear appropriate jobsite attire and personal protective equipment as requirement Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Belle Glade, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
