Job Description

Private Equity-Backed | Tristate Area (NJ / PA / DE) This is not a back-office operations role. This is a search for the operator who will build the engine. A private equity-backed investment group with 25+ years of combined experience in home services is launching a new HVAC platform in the
NJ/PA/DE
tristate area. We are seeking a Founding Head of Operations / Entrepreneur-in-Residence to stand up, license, and scale the operational backbone of the business. This role is for someone who understands that great operations win markets—and wants ownership in what they build. The Mandate You will design, launch, and lead all operational functions of a brand-new HVAC company.
Responsibilities include:
Serving as (or providing access to) the required HVACR license holder Standing up field operations from zero: licensure requirements, subcontractor network, technicians, dispatch, fleet, inventory, and safety Building scalable SOPs for installation, service, warranty, and quality control Owning permitting, compliance, inspections, and regulatory requirements Recruiting, training, and developing technicians and operational leadership Managing job costing, capacity planning, margins, and operational KPIs Partnering directly with ownership and the Head of Sales to align demand, delivery, and growth This is a hands-on builder role, especially in the early stages. The Platform The private equity sponsor provides: Capital and active strategic oversight Centralized build-out of: Entity formation, registrations, and legal compliance HR, talent acquisition, and administrative infrastructure Proven systems and playbooks from decades in home services Scalable lead generation to support growth without starving operations You will focus on execution while leveraging institutional support. The Profile This search is best suited for someone who: Holds an HVACR license in NJ, PA, or DE—or has immediate access to a qualifying license holder Has built or scaled HVAC operations in a residential and/or light commercial environment Thinks like an owner and operates with a no-excuses, accountability-first mindset Is comfortable building teams, systems, and culture from scratch Wants meaningful equity and long-term upside—not just a senior title Prior experience as an Operations Manager, Director of Operations, GM, or founder is highly attractive.
