The Office of the Nassau County Executive is often in receipt of confidential and classified matters pertaining to County operations and public safety. The Confidential Special Assistant to the County Executive will work directly with senior level management and would be charged with supervising various sensitive matters and special projects. This candidate must have a high level of security clearance and be well versed in governmental procedures, NYS and Federal Laws, law enforcement policies, methods used with specialty police units (i.e. SWAT, Special Operations, Narcotics, K-9) providing confidential advice to senior level management on various issues such as potential terror activities, emergency preparedness, drug activities, and other issues plaguing our communities. It is important that this individual understands the internal and unique aspects of the day-to-day functioning of a large-scale police force to be an effective advisor.

Successful Applicants must have:

• Associate degree and
• Minimum requirement of 15 years' experience in a Police Department as a sworn officer in the State of New York as defined by section 1.2(34) of the New York Criminal Procedure Law with emphasis on specialized tactical training and armed emergency operations.
• Possess high level security clearance as a Police Officer as defined above for a minimum of at least 10 years.
