Construction Laborer - Truss Builder Job Description This role focuses on assembling floor and roof trusses from pre-cut materials according to detailed specifications in an indoor construction environment. You will work with hand and power tools, operate presses and nail guns, and handle finished products to support efficient, accurate, and safe production on the 2nd shift. Responsibilities Assemble cut lumber and components into floor and roof trusses according to work orders, production schedules, and specifications. Read and interpret typed, handwritten, and on-screen work orders and production schedules to understand requirements and sequencing. Pull and organize plates and other components needed for each truss assembly. Set up and operate presses, nail guns, and related equipment safely and efficiently. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret work orders and production schedules in typed, handwritten, and computer-based formats. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a construction or manufacturing setting. Capability to use a tape measure accurately and perform basic measurements. Ability to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout the shift, verified through references. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in truss building, framing, or related construction assembly work. Comfort working with construction materials such as lumber, plates, and fasteners. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based entirely indoors in a truss-building facility, offering a construction-type environment without outdoor weather exposure. The workspace includes typical conditions such as dust, dirt, and equipment noise, and involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, presses, nail guns, and material handling carts. Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves; safety glasses and gloves are provided, and face masks are available and used as needed. The position operates on structured shifts, with 1st shift running from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. All new hires attend orientation at 7:30 AM on their first day, regardless of shift, to review safety procedures, equipment use, and workplace expectations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Crescent, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $19.75/hr.
