Job Description
Pacific Tech Construction is a fast-growing Federal and General Contractor based in Washington State — we do roofing and general construction, and we're expanding. We're looking for an experienced Purchasing Agent who's been in construction long enough to know the difference between a good vendor relationship and a great one — someone who can step in, take ownership of our purchasing function, and make an immediate impact. You will sit within our Accounting team and work closely with Project Managers and Estimating to buy out projects efficiently, beat bid pricing, and create a clean purchase order trail for job cost tracking. This is a high-visibility role with direct impact on project profitability. What you'll do: Buy out awarded projects — issue purchase orders for materials and coordinate subcontractor pricing within 48 hours of project award Solicit and level competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; negotiate pricing at or below bid Build and maintain a living pricing catalog for roofing materials and GC trades to support future estimates Submit weekly PO summary reports and monthly commitment logs to the Accounting/Controller team Track open commitments by project and flag budget variances to Project Managers Collaborate with Estimating to align catalog pricing with current market conditions Support Project Managers on all aspects of job buyout What we're looking for: 4+ years of purchasing, procurement, or project coordination experience in construction, roofing, or a related trade industry Familiarity with purchase order systems and job cost tracking (ideally Viewpoint Spectrum) Strong negotiation skills and comfort making vendor calls to secure competitive pricing Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple open projects and deadlines simultaneously Comfortable working cross-functionally with Project Managers, Accounting, and field crews Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for pricing catalogs and PO logs Understanding of roofing materials (TPO, EPDM, shingles, insulation) is a significant plus Experience with federal construction projects or Davis-Bacon compliance is a plus, not required Why Pac Tech?
