CONTROLS ENGINEERCOMSTOCK PARK, MI NATURE OF WORK
The Controls Engineer reports to the Controls Manager. Lear designs, builds, and installs equipment for Lear plants globally. Our portfolio includes ASRS systems, automated conveyor, pallet elevators, stackers/destackers, pallet turntables, automatic labelers, shipping trailers, and build line integration. At Lear, we are always looking to incorporate new technologies into our seating plants.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

However, any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)Follows health, safety, environmental regulations, and safety protocols (safety harnesses, fork truck, scissor lift, boom lifts, LOTO)Builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among all team membersCommunicate across cross-functional groupsResponsible for projects from technical specification to startup supportDesign and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and programming using Lear standards and build upon with innovative ideasWrite, implement, and debug PLC softwareProvide support to existing Lear automated equipment globallyDevelop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime - (CBM, Industry 4.0)Develop contingency and disaster recovery plans KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and
ABILITIES
Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitudeMust be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracyExpert in RSLogix5000, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk View StudioKnowledgeable of I/O link, AB components, drive control, Keyence camerasAbility to read and create electrical drawings in AutoCADMust have ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlinesUnderstand and communicate applicable safety standards: general industry, machine guarding, robot safety, automated vehicles, conveyor safetySelf-driven and willingness to work long hours during installations, if requiredWillingness to travel globally 40% of the year
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in electrical or software engineering3+ years' experience in a controls engineering role at an automation/machine build shop.
