Job Description

Accountability Objectives Takumi Stamping, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer to support our Mass Production Engineering Department within a high-volume automotive stamping and resistance welding environment. This role requires a strong hands-on maintenance background and the ability to program, troubleshoot, and improve PLC-controlled automation systems that directly support production, quality, and equipment up time. The ideal candidate is plant-floor driven and experienced with vision systems, HMI interfaces, and bolt verification (poka‑yoke) systems used in mass production. Key Responsibilities Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic programs Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting to minimize downtime Support stamping presses, resistance welders, and automated welding/assembly systems Support and modify HMIs (Keyence and Mitsubishi) for operator and maintenance interfaces Ensure proper assembly through vision-based and sensor-based error‑proofing systems Troubleshoot PLCs, I/O, VFDs, servos, sensors, and safety circuits Assist with new equipment launches, automation upgrades, and line modifications Partner with maintenance, production, and quality teams for root cause analysis and corrective actions Improve equipment reliability, quality, safety, and OEE Maintain PLC programs, HMI files, vision programs, backups, and controls documentation Required Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Controls, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent experience Strong industrial maintenance background with hands-on troubleshooting experience Proven ability to program and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic Experience supporting resistance welding equipment Hands-on experience with Keyence vision systems Experience supporting Shinko bolt checker or fastener verification systems Familiarity with Keyence and Mitsubishi HMI platforms Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and prints Experience working in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications Automotive stamping or Tier 1 / Tier 2 manufacturing experience Experience with poka‑yoke systems in mass production Knowledge of EtherNet/IP or industrial networks Experience with robotics or material handling automation Physical Requirements Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Working Conditions Exposed to heat during the summer months and cold during winter months. Exposure to upper noise levels on occasion.
