Job Description

Schedule :
This is a third shift position with working hours from 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM. This position includes a $3.00/hour third shift differential (paid in addition to the base hourly rate) and is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.
Position Summary:
The Conveyor Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. This role is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, including motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. The Conveyor Mechanic diagnoses machinery issues and determines when adjustments or repairs are required, with increasing responsibility based on experience. This position also includes general housekeeping and cleaning responsibilities throughout the shift.
Essential Job Functions:
Observes mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoots issues Dismantles equipment to access and remove defective parts using hoists, hand tools, and power tools Inspects used parts to determine dimensional changes using measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) Adjusts functional parts and control instruments using hand and/or power tools Repairs or replaces defective components Advises Maintenance Supervisor/Manager of operational issues Performs preventative maintenance and general plant inspections, diagnosis, and repairs Maintains, repairs, and cleans MRF equipment, including but not limited to: shaker decks, conveyor tunnels, walking floor tunnels, conveyor belts, and head & tail pulleys Maintains, repairs, and cleans exhaust fans, including air and carbon filters Performs welding and cutting as needed Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all safety, health, environmental, and company policies
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of maintenance and repair experience in a production environment High School Diploma or G.E.D. Fabrication knowledge (MIG, TIG, Arc, Oxy-Acetylene, brazing, etc.) Working knowledge of plant component repairs and replacements Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues safely and efficiently Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and compliance Professional and reliable work behavior Valid Class C Driver's License with acceptable driving record Must possess personal tools Ability to meet physical demands of the role with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications:
Trade school certification Bilingual (English/Spanish) Welder certification Experience in waste, recycling, aggregates, concrete, or asphalt industries

Physical:
Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously. Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, exposure to unprotected heights, exposure to heavy machinery, & eye/hand coordination, & handling continuously. Bending, reaching, stretching, crouching, & lifting ≤ 50 Lbs. continuously.
Environmental:
Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet slippery surfaces, hot/cold conditions, & noise continuously. Works inside and outside.
