Job Description

Cook 2511 Cleveland Hwy, Dalton, GA 30721 From $12 an hour

  • Full-time At Precious Possessions Daycare, our Cook plays an important role in supporting the health, safety, and daily care of our children.
This position is responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, and ensuring all food service operations meet childcare licensing and health department standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, caring, and flexible. In addition to kitchen responsibilities, this team member must be willing to assist in classrooms and work directly with children when needed to support overall daycare operations. Food Preparation & Kitchen Duties Prepare and serve nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks according to daycare meal guidelines and schedules Follow approved menus and portion requirements Accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special nutrition needs Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, food prep areas, refrigerators, and storage spaces Properly store food and monitor expiration dates Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen equipment daily Keep accurate food inventory records and notify management of supply needs Follow all state licensing regulations and health department requirements Ensure safe food handling procedures are followed at all times Classroom & Childcare Support Must be willing and able to assist in classrooms with children when needed Support teachers during staff shortages, busy periods, or emergencies Help supervise children while maintaining a safe and positive environment Interact with children in a caring, patient, and professional manner Assist with classroom routines, transitions, cleaning, and activities as requested by management Be flexible and work as part of the overall daycare team General Requirements Dependable attendance and punctuality Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced childcare environment Good communication skills with staff, children, and parents Ability to follow directions and daycare policies Must be comfortable working around young children throughout the day Ability to lift food supplies and kitchen items as needed Maintain confidentiality and professionalism Preferred Qualifications Previous cooking or food service experience preferred Experience working in childcare or school settings is a plus Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain) CPR/First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Background check and any state-required clearances must be completed before employment
