Purpose:

To plan and prepare meals for the food service facility at Winedale Historic Site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, ensuring quality, presentation, and adherence to food safety standards
• Plan menus and provides the kitchen manager with needed ingredients and supplies in a timely manner
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food handling and storage practices
• Provide excellent customer service by serving food with professionalism and responding to guest inquiries or requests
• Able to adjust meals for individuals with dietary restrictions.

Essential Functions:

Function 1: Cooks lunch and/or dinner for groups between 5-30. Sets up food buffet including clean utensils and plates and cleans up buffet when the meal is over. Ensure that all food remain at proper temperatures. Ensure that leftovers are packaged and dated before placement in refrigerator or freezer. Help kitchen manager check in and put up groceries. Informs kitchen manager of needed supplies. (70%) Function 2: Cleans kitchen and dining room. Washes dishes, pots, pans and other cooking equipment according to required standards. Performs related duties as required. (30%)

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to work multiple shifts between June 6-August 11 when the Shakespeare at Winedale program is at the site. Exact shift times TBD but will likely be: lunch hour on Mondays and Thursdays and/or lunch and dinner on Friday and/or Saturday.
• Relevant experience in a restaurant, hotel, or other food service position
• Have a history of consistent attendance and punctuality
• Experience following basic instructions
• Ability to work independently
• Texas Department of State Health Service Texas Food Handlers card (or willingness to get one)
