Job Description
DIVISION
HealthSUPERVISOR
Associate Dean of HealthBASIC FUNCTION
Temporary full-time, 3-4 months contract. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day-operations of the simulation lab, development of computer materials for the simulations, working with faculty for simulation development/implementation/ upgrades, working with students for tutoring/testing/participation in activities, and collaboratively meeting with community/state/national groups for simulation development. This person will participate in other related functions which support the health division.QUALIFICATIONS
Required - Iowa Registered Nurse license or ability to obtain before employment. Master's degree with major in nursing or annual progress towards. Three years work experience in nursing education. Basic computer skills. Preferred - Graduate certification in simulation education. Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.DESIRED QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS
1. Knowledge and experience in simulation education. 2. Knowledge of current software and simulation applications. 3. Demonstrated competence in the use of simulation in healthcare education. 4. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 5. Ability to plan, organize, and manage time. 6. Demonstrated ability to function autonomously with minimal supervision. 7. Ability to travel to state and national conferences and training sessions related to simulation. 8. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds. 9. Demonstrated leadership in innovation within the field of education and/or technology.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Overseeing simulation and the simulation center. 2. Maintaining current expertise in simulation education. 3. Facilitating the implementation of clinical simulation experiences with low, medium, and high fidelity simulation. 4. Facilitating evidence based simulation activities, including consulting with Health Program Directors and Dean and faculty members in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating simulation activities. 5. Identifying opportunities for improvement, innovation, implementation, and integration of patient simulation technology into existing health curricula. 6. Teaching clinical skills and critical thinking using simulation technology. 7. Maintaining or delegating the scheduling of simulation experiences. 8. Providing or delegating orientation to simulation labs. 9. Coordinating the purchase of simulation capital equipment. 10. Overseeing inventory of simulation supplies and equipment. 11. Evaluating and recommending new simulation materials, equipment, and strategies. 12. Working effectively with diverse student and faculty populations. 13. Maintaining records and creating reports related to simulation. 14. Facilitating faculty development in simulation education. 15. Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 16. Staying current with national and international advances in simulation and clinical skills activities. 17. Performing periodic review and evaluation of program; assessing areas for growth and improvement. 18. Developing working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and students within the institution as well as with other simulation centers and educational organizations. 19. Collaborating with regional, national, and international users to advance the use of simulation in healthcare education. 20. Representing NCC at regional and national simulation conferences. 21. Participating in department curriculum development and implementation with a focus on simulation. 22. Establishing relationships with area hospitals and coordinating usage of the simulation lab as a training "field" for health care occupations in the surrounding community. 23. Facilitating growth in the Simulation Program including, but not limited to, the increase in the number of scenarios and students and inclusion of other health care students. 24.Academic Support:
Provide guidance and resources to health students to enhance their academic performance. 25.Goal Setting:
Assist health students in setting and achieving their educational and career goals. 26.Progress Monitoring:
Track health students' progress and identify areas where additional support is needed. 27.Study Skills Development:
Offer workshops or individual sessions on study skills, time management, and exam preparation tailored to health students. 28.Retention Strategies:
Implement programs or initiatives aimed at improving retention and graduation rates among health students. 29.Resource Referral:
Connect health students with campus resources such as tutoring services, counseling, or financial aid. 30.Data Analysis:
Analyze data specific to health students to identify trends and develop strategies for improving their outcomes. 31.Student Advocacy:
Serve as an advocate for health students, addressing concerns and assisting in navigating institutional policies and procedures. 32.Collaboration:
Work closely with faculty, staff, and stakeholders in the health field to support student success initiatives. 33.Program Evaluation:
Evaluate the effectiveness of student success programs for health students and recommend improvements as needed. 34. These responsibilities are designed to create a supportive environment tailored to the needs of health students, facilitating their achievement and success in their educational journey. 35.
