Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Printing Services Manager in the overall operations of multiple copy centers, copier fleet, department budgets, marketing and customer service program. The person in this position acts as the Printing Services Manager in the absence of the Manager. The person in this position acts with full accountability working with customers to develop and produce consistent high quality finished products; providing exceptional customer service with prompt and accurate responses to printing requests. The person in this position influences decision makers at the college with their high level of specialization in printing industry capabilities. Trains, manages performance, and coordinates the development of employees. Duties include job consultation and preparing specifications for print requests with customer(s). Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of all types of printing and applications. Perform production including designing copy, and printing via Mac and PC formats. Ability to operate department machinery including production on digital black & white and color copiers, plotters, silkscreen printer, wide format, engineering printers, offset printers/presses, various binding and finishing equipment, vinyl banner and poster printers, plotters, digital production copiers, production paper cutter, canvas printing, digital photo printing, finishing equipment, etc. Operate cash register, schedule production workflow, schedule and train employees and generate timecards for payroll. Ability to coordinate workflow and direct resources to meet deadlines. Working knowledge of electronic file transfer, preparation, computer printout, and graphic computer applications, i. e. vector, eps, jpeg, tiff, tvi, pdf, etc, Demonstrated working knowledge of word publishing and graphic software programs: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat, Flash, Dreamweaver Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; Web Design and Layout; Prepress, Copy Print and Design operation and workflow. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to interpret technical procedures and/or regulations. Must possess excellent customer service and public relation skills. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies. Must be able to analyze, diagnose, design, plan, execute and evaluate projects to meet time, cost and quality expectations. Takes initiative to keep skills up to date. Maintains awareness of developments in the industry. Can analyze requirements and advises others on scope and options for operational improvement. Demonstrates creativity and innovation in applying solutions. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Zero (0) to three (3) years direct, full-time, paid work experience in copy, print, customer service and/or marketing. Trade off 1:1 in experience/education requirement.
