Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Correctional Officer - I to maintain safety, security, and order within a correctional facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising inmates, enforcing rules, and ensuring a secure environment. This role requires strong observational skills, conflict management abilities, and a commitment to maintaining institutional discipline. Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military, or related fields is highly valued. The Correctional Officer - I plays a vital role in supporting the safety of staff, inmates, and the community. Responsibilities Monitor inmate activity through CCTV systems and perform regular patrols of the facility to prevent disturbances or unauthorized activities. Enforce facility rules and regulations consistently to maintain order and discipline among inmates. Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid and CPR techniques when necessary, ensuring immediate care and safety. Manage conflicts through effective conflict management strategies, de-escalating tense situations to prevent violence or injury. Complete detailed report writing on incidents, inmate behavior, and daily activities to ensure accurate documentation for legal and administrative purposes. Conduct searches for contraband or prohibited items as part of security protocols. Assist with inmate transportation and escort duties within the facility as required. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other security personnel to uphold safety standards. Qualifications Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or related fields is preferred. Knowledge of CCTV operation, conflict management techniques, report writing, and emergency response procedures such as first aid and CPR. Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert during long shifts. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with inmates, staff, and external agencies. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally while maintaining strict confidentiality. Physical fitness suitable for patrol duties and emergency response activities. High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in law enforcement or security is advantageous. Pay:
$45,806.00 - $55,521.00 per year
