Agency Adult Correction Division COO - Operations Job Classification Title Correctional Sergeant II (S) Position Number 65015705 Grade NC08 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Reporting to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager II at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position is responsible for first line supervision of Correctional Officer II's. This position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Assigning lower level custody staff to a particular area or post. 2. Evaluating and overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders is maintained. 3. Coordinating work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing standard operational procedures (SOPs) and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy. 4. Managing the facility on occasion of being the highest-ranking custody staff on the premises or the Officer-in-Charge (OIC). 5. Ensuring that staff are fully trained and that proper conduct, actions, and procedures are being followed. 6. Maintaining facility security through regular inspections to ensure compliance with governing regulations and standards relating to facility maintenance, health, and safety of offenders. 7. Communicating effectively instructions/directions during drills, searches, and in emergencies situations. 8. Responding to emergency situations such as; distress codes, escapes, and transportation of offenders. 9. Conducting and/or supervising searches of offenders, offender living areas and work areas for contraband. 10. Investigating and taking action when appropriate regarding security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints. 11. Preparing, reviewing reports and completing performance evaluations on subordinate staff. (

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.Contact Information:
