Louisiana State Penitentiary is seeking qualified applicants for a Corrections ARDC Specialist 1 in the Inmate Records Department. Duties include maintaining inmate records, processing legal and institutional documents, auditing files for accuracy, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, and assisting with sentence calculations and record management. Applicants must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced correctional environment. The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies. Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Interprets rulings issued by District Court Judges, including sentencing minutes, commitments, court orders, and motions. Analyzes sentencing documentation, jail credit, statutory requirements, and departmental regulations to compile accurate inmate records and criminal histories for individuals sentenced to DPS&C. Scans and files all disciplinary actions, appeals, and documentation related to inmate rehabilitation and program participation.Position-Specific Details :

(Adult DOC) Current permanent classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.Other Important Information :
