Rayburn Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated, highly motivated Corrections Lt. Colonel to join our leadership team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, security, and operational integrity of the facility. The ideal candidate is an experienced corrections professional with strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to guide staff while upholding the mission, values, and standards of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections. As a Corrections Lt. Colonel, you will oversee daily operations, support staff development, ensure policy compliance, and contribute to a secure and orderly environment for both staff and inmates. Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following: 1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR 2. One year of experience in any field; OR 3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer. One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current driver's license. Directs, coordinates and oversees all security activities, ensures federal and state law, department regulations and institutional policy and goals are adhered to. Incumbent will be on 24-hour call to provide on-site management of emergencies and crisis, and the day-today efficient operations of the institution. Provides training and assistance to subordinates regarding policy, procedure and law. Coordinates responses to inquiries from the Warden, Corrections Services Headquarters Staff, Judges, Attorneys, etc. upon request and as directed by the Warden. Serves as ranking official in the absence of higher level Colonels, Wardens and is on 24 hour call if there are escapes, hostage situations, riots or emergency situations. Assists in resolving problems with other divisions, offices, agencies or departments and ensures programs such as treatment, education and religion receive the support needed to fulfill their program goals and tasks.Position-Specific Details :
