Job Summary The Corrections Officer - I plays a vital role in maintaining safety, security, and order within correctional facilities. This position involves supervising inmates, enforcing facility rules, and ensuring a secure environment for staff and inmates alike. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong conflict management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety protocols. Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or related fields is highly valued. The Corrections Officer - I is responsible for monitoring inmate activities, responding to emergencies, and completing detailed reports to support facility operations. Responsibilities Supervise inmate behavior and enforce facility rules to maintain order and safety. Monitor inmate movements within the facility using CCTV systems and other surveillance tools. Respond promptly to emergencies or disturbances, utilizing conflict management and first aid skills when necessary. Conduct regular security checks of the premises and inmate living areas. Write detailed incident reports accurately documenting events and actions taken. Assist with inmate intake, releases, and transfers while adhering to security protocols. Maintain communication with team members and supervisors regarding facility operations. Implement safety procedures including CPR when required to ensure immediate response during medical emergencies. Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times in accordance with legal and institutional policies. Experience Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or corrections is preferred. Knowledge of CCTV monitoring systems and surveillance techniques. Certification or training in first aid and CPR is advantageous. Demonstrated conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively. Experience with report writing related to incident documentation or law enforcement activities is desirable. Familiarity with security procedures, law enforcement protocols, and correctional facility operations is beneficial.
