The Medical Records Technician position with the Department of Corrections gives you the chance to support important health services at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is responsible for maintaining organized and complete medical records that support health care operations at SCI Fayette. It ensures that information is accurate, secure, and aligned with required standards. As a Medical Records Technician, you will perform the following duties:
Record Management:
Organize and maintain integrated health records for incarcerated individuals
Information Processing:
File, issue, and transfer medical records in line with confidentiality rules
Record Review:
Examine medical files for accuracy and refer incomplete records to health staff
Statistical Reporting:
Prepare periodic reports on health services and related topics
Legal Preparation:
Assemble documentation for court cases when medical files are subpoenaed Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirement:
You must be in possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or be eligible for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
