Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Corrections Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care within correctional facility settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in acute and chronic care, with expertise in managing diverse patient populations, including individuals with complex medical and behavioral health needs. As a Corrections Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. Your role will be vital in promoting health and well-being among incarcerated individuals through expert assessment, treatment, and education.

RN CORRECTIONS
Shift:
12-hour Days/Nights 36 hours/week (3
  • 12) 12-week assignment Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to determine immediate and ongoing care needs.
Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, injections, wound suturing, and medication management per physician orders. Perform diagnostic evaluations such as specimen collection, laboratory testing, and monitoring of lab results using systems like Cerner or Epic. Provide emergency and critical care interventions in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU settings, including airway management and ventilator support. Manage acute pain through appropriate protocols while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for case management and discharge planning. Maintain sterile techniques during procedures such as catheterization, phlebotomy, and ostomy care to prevent infection. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with mental health professionals to deliver behavioral health support for patients with developmental disabilities or dementia-related conditions. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards within correctional healthcare environments. Educate patients on health coaching topics including chronic disease management, medication adherence, nutrition, and preventive care strategies. Experience Proven nursing experience in acute care settings such as hospital medicine, ICU, emergency room, or trauma centers; Level II or Level I trauma center experience preferred. Demonstrated expertise working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with disabilities. Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for documentation and order entry. Familiarity with correctional healthcare protocols and working within secure environments is advantageous. Strong background in medical-surgical nursing along with specialized skills such as suturing, dialysis management, or cardiology procedures like catheterization. Knowledge of infectious disease care practices including isolation procedures and infection control measures. Additional experience in long-term care facilities, assisted living environments, or hospice & palliative medicine enhances suitability for this role. Certification in basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), or pediatric advanced life support (PALS) is required; trauma or critical care certifications are a plus.
