Job Description

Hope's Door, named a 2025 Best Places to Work in Westchester , is dedicated to ending domestic violence and empowering victims to achieve safety, independence, and healing. Overview of Position The Counselor/Advocate for the Westchester County Domestic Violence High Risk Team will collaborate with community partners dedicated to enhanced safety for domestic violence victims assessed at high risk for homicide. The Advocate's primary role is to facilitate this process through assessment of danger, safety planning, skillful advocacy, and coordination of services within Hope's Door and with our partners, which include Westchester County Office for Women, Westchester County Probation Department, Westchester Medical Center, local police departments, the District Attorney's Office, sister DV agencies, and legal services providers, among other partners. Responsibilities Deliver services for victims identified as high-risk for homicide. Conduct intake, danger assessments, safety planning, counseling, and case management services. Provide information and referrals. Participate in high-risk team meetings. Support on-call responses outside regular hours. Strengthen partnerships with community partners. Assist with hotline response to provide immediate support and guidance. Document services and submit accurate, timely reports.
Preferred Skills and Experience Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with databases a plus.
Transportation:
Valid driver's license and reliable, insured transportation.
Language Skills:
Bilingual Spanish a plus. We seek a compassionate, well-rounded candidate with a relevant education, practical experience, and technical skills who is flexible, collaborative, and able to work effectively in a team environment. Annual Agency Contribution for
