Position Creative Technologist Department Information Technology Available July 2026 Detroit Country Day School is a private, independent, co-educational, non-denominational, preschool through grade 12, college preparatory school focused on a well-rounded liberal arts education. Position Summary Detroit Country Day School is seeking a Creative Technologist to support The Studios , including our Extended Reality (xR) Studio, Vodcast Studio, and VR Innovation Lab. This position will support innovation and enhancement of the digital learning experience through student and teacher partnerships, cutting-edge technology integration, and creative digital content creation. You will be instrumental in developing opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and external partners to generate ideas and develop projects that enhance teaching and learning and ultimately create content in The Studios to elevate academic, athletic, and artistic programing. Primary Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of innovative digital learning experiences for a comprehensive preK-12 student experience with a focus on immersive storytelling. Work closely and collaboratively with the Virtual Production Engineer. Partner with faculty and students to co-create meaningful, project-based digital content that connects technology, creativity, and disciplinary content. Collaborate with the Instructional Technology team to develop scalable, intuitive preK-12 programming in The Studios. Provide strategic oversight of The Studios ecosystem, including the xR Studio, Vodcast Studio, and VR Innovation Lab, ensuring alignment with our school's strategic goals, divisional and curricular goals, and student experience. Manage systems for equitable access, scheduling, and cross-divisional use of studio spaces and resources. Maintain the technical infrastructure that supports high-quality synchronous and asynchronous digital production. Serve as a consultant to faculty and staff, growing curricular and assessment ideas into engaging digital content. Sustain partnerships with Communications, Advancement, Alumni, and external collaborators to extend DCDS storytelling. Continuously expand expertise in emerging media and production technologies, including xR systems, broadcast workflows, color science, and post-production tools including Premier Pro, CapCut, iMovie, etc. Operate effectively in fast-paced, production-driven environments, balancing quality, cross divisional and departmental timelines, and instructional priorities. Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and creative problem-solving in both independent and collaborative contexts. Provide flexible support, including after-hours and weekend availability, to meet the needs of productions and school events. Lead classroom sessions or technical demonstrations for students and staff. Instruct elective courses or specialized workshops related to creative technology, as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, or a related technical field (advanced degrees in these areas will be considered an asset), or 5+ years of relevant experience in technical roles, preferably in areas such as digital innovation projects, xR technologies, virtual production, or related areas. Experience with curricular design and lesson planning, digital media creation and editing, coupled with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and innovation. Familiarity with creative design packages (e.g., Adobe, Avid, Premier Pro, iMovie, and CapCut). Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative, and solve complex technical problems creatively and efficiently Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during collaboration with students, faculty, and project teams. Frequent use of hands to operate computers, cameras, audio/visual equipment, and other digital production tools. Ability to move throughout campus and studio spaces to support classrooms Capability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot equipment in The Studios, including cameras, lighting, audio, and emerging technologies. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and position equipment and materials up to 25-40 pounds (i.e., AV equipment) Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, or reach as needed to support studio setup and equipment adjustments. Work Environment The work takes place across multiple environments, including The Studios and classrooms. Noise levels may vary depending on the setting, particularly during studio production, student collaboration, or live events.
