Crisis Counselor Job Description Minimum Qualifications:
Current Professional Licensure in the State of Georgia. Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Crisis Counselor to provide immediate support and intervention for individuals experiencing emotional distress or crisis situations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health counseling and be adept at employing various therapeutic techniques to assist clients in navigating their challenges. This role requires the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments, demonstrating empathy and professionalism while ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. Responsibilities Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals in acute distress Performs biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning/monitoring and discharge planning. Provides counseling/therapy to individuals served requiring complex intervention. Acts as advocate for individual served in order to coordinate required services or to resolve crisis. Counsel individuals served in individual and group sessions to help them overcome dependencies, recover from illness, and adjust to life. Identify environmental impediments to individual served and assess progress through interviews and review of individual's records. Participates in treatment team, monitors, evaluates, and records individual's progress according to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan. Performs clinical assessments of the behavioral health needs of individuals presenting for services. Refers individual served or family to community resources to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness and to provide access to services such as financial assistance, legal aid, housing, job placement or education. Designs behavioral or therapeutic interventions for intractable or difficult to manage individuals. Conducts psychosocial assessments/evaluations to develop comprehensive case/service plans. Monitors provision of services e.g. authorizations, level of care, treatment plan reviews/signatures, discharge summary, etc. Manage caseload and complete discharges in a timely manner when necessary. Will maintain an 85% overall chart score for all charts under primary staff relationship during an internal audit Will maintain an 85% overall clinician score when being reviewed in an internal audit. Skills Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques and crisis management strategies. Knowledge of acute care settings, hospital protocols, and home & community care practices. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and HIPAA compliance. Strong understanding of developmental disabilities and experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum. Competence in behavioral therapy approaches such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) and group therapy facilitation. Excellent communication skills for effective patient care and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
