Job Description

Job description We are seeking an experienced, classically trained culinary professional to join us as a short-term consultant to help tighten execution, consistency, and kitchen systems across two restaurant concepts operating under one roof. About Us We operate two distinct concepts: Concept #1: A 30-year-established comfort-food restaurant rooted in classical technique — fundamentals done exceptionally well (stocks, sauces, proteins, scratch prep). The original menu was developed by a CIA-trained chef (Culinary Institute of America). Concept #2: A newer (1-year-old) concept with a strong menu foundation, currently challenged by consistency, line flow, and repeatable execution. Our food is good. Our opportunity is building systems so it's great every day. This is an operational consulting role — not a creative rebrand. What We're Looking For This is not an entry-level position.
We are seeking someone with:
Formal culinary school training (CIA preferred, or comparable classical program) Significant professional kitchen leadership experience (minimum 8+ years strongly preferred) Strong foundation in classical technique and fundamentals Spanish-speaking strongly preferred (our BOH team is bilingual) Proven ability to improve systems, process, and execution — not just create dishes You'll work directly with ownership and our head chef. Scope of Engagement The consultant will: Audit BOH workflow and line execution Tighten and standardize recipes (seasoning, yields, portions, plating) Improve prep systems and service flow Address consistency issues across stations Help refine or introduce a small number of new menu items Train and coach kitchen leadership Leave behind documented systems that stick Ideal Candidate Classically trained chef with real-world restaurant experience Comfortable stepping into an existing kitchen and improving it quickly Systems-minded (process over ego) Collaborative leadership style Practical, grounded, and results-oriented Engagement Structure We are open to: 30-90 day consulting engagement On-site intensive work period Possible follow-up support This is intentionally structured as a consulting role first.
