Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Cultural Resources Associate and play a vital role in identifying, evaluating, and managing cultural resources related to Moundville Archaeology Park. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your research, technical skills, and field experience to help preserve an important archaeological site. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with preservation laws while supporting sustainable development initiatives. This position requires supervisory skills and Your energetic approach and keen attention to detail will drive successful project outcomes and contribute to the protection of our shared cultural heritage. Responsibilities Perform Phase II and Phase III archaeological excavation Perform research on historical records, previous surveys, and archival materials to support project planning and site evaluations Supervise field crews during excavation, survey activities, or monitoring efforts, ensuring safety protocols are followed Assist in preparing comprehensive reports documenting findings, methodologies, and recommendations for preservation or further investigation Maintain accurate records of data collection efforts, site conditions, and project progress for compliance purposes Requirements Prior laboratory experience in archaeology or anthropology is highly desirable Strong research skills with the ability to analyze historical documents and archaeological data Excellent report writing skills with attention to clarity and detail Demonstrated analysis skills for interpreting spatial data and site information Supervising experience in field settings or project management Technical writing ability for preparing detailed reports and documentation Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while conducting field surveys This position is an excellent fit for motivated individuals passionate about cultural heritage preservation who thrive in active, detail-oriented roles.
