August 2026 - May 2027 (School Year Position) Bruneau Grand View Joint School District is seeking a reliable, hardworking individual to serve as a Custodian / Light Maintenance employee for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for our students and staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas Perform light maintenance and minor repairs as needed Assist with setup and teardown for school events and activities Help ensure building safety and security

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred but not required Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical labor Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Work Schedule:

Maintenance Supervisor Job Summary The Custodian / Light Maintenance employee is responsible for maintaining school facilities in a clean, safe, orderly, and functional condition to support the educational environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect) Empty trash and recycling and maintain waste disposal areas Clean and restock restrooms regularly Maintain floors (strip, wax, buff as needed) Clean windows, walls, furniture, and fixtures Perform minor maintenance and repairs (replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, minor fixes) Assist with heating, ventilation, and basic building systems checks Set up and take down furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and activities Maintain outdoor areas near entrances (trash pickup, light snow removal, etc.) Monitor buildings for safety hazards and report maintenance needs Ensure buildings are secured (lock/unlock doors as needed) Follow all safety procedures and district policies Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment Basic understanding of maintenance and repair techniques Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and community Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Previous custodial or maintenance experience (preferred but not required) Valid driver's license (preferred) Work Environment This position involves working in school buildings and outdoor areas, with exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and seasonal weather conditions.
