Custodian/Maintenance Worker

Job Overview Clayton First United Methodist Church is seeking a dedicated and energetic Custodian/Maintenance Worker to keep our facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning, custodial, and maintenance tasks to ensure our environment remains welcoming, functional, and compliant with safety standards. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for everyone who enters our space. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of all areas including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies Carry out custodial tasks including trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as repairing fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and painting walls in residential or commercial settings Support industrial cleaning projects by handling specialized equipment and adhering to safety protocols Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas and ensure proper storage of cleaning supplies and equipment Collaborate with facilities management to report repairs needed or safety hazards promptly Qualifications Proven janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential environments Experience with industrial cleaning methods and equipment is a plus Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting and minor repairs Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team Join us in maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment!
