We are a quality-driven neighborhood restaurant with the standards and attention to detail of a much larger operation. our food is made from scratch u sing carefully sourced ingredients, including organic flour, California-grown heritage grains, local produce when possible, pasture-raised proteins, and wild-caught seafood. We are looking for an experienced restaurant leader who will be the face of Mor Mor's and take personal responsibility for every guest's experience -- from the welcome at the door to the quality of the final plate leaving the kitchen. The Role The Manager of Customer Experience & Quality will oversee the daily guest experience, front-of-house team, service standards, and dining room operations while working closely with the kitchen to ensure every dish meets Mor Mor's standards. This person should be exceptionally personable, warm, polished and naturally attentive. They should notice the details others miss, anticipate what guests need, and genuinely enjoy making people feel cared for. That also means being very hands on. They must also be deeply invested in food quality. This is not a manager who stays only in the dining room. The right person will understand the menu, know how every dish should look and taste, monitor what is coming out of the kitchen, and confidently address anything that does not meet our standards. What you'll do Serve as the welcoming, highly visible face of MorMor's during service Create a warm, personal, and memorable experience for every guest Build relationships with regulars and make first-time guests want to return Lead, train, coach, and inspire the front-of-house team Establish and uphold clear standards for hospitality, service, appearance, and professionalism Oversee the flow of service and proactively solve problems before they affect the guest Maintain a consistent presence on the floor rather than managing from the sidelines Work closely with the kitchen to monitor ticket times, presentation, temperature, consistency, and overall food quality Taste and evaluate food regularly and speak up when something does not meet expectations Develop a deep understanding of every menu item, ingredient, preparation, and key selling point. Use that knowledge to suggest menu items, add desserts, wines, beer, sides and optimal pairings Be obsessive about AOV and make sure your team is as well…use your menu knowledge to insure the customer experiences the best parts of the menu Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, properly set, and ready for service each day Handle guest concerns with warmth, accountability, and sound judgment Support scheduling, labor management, opening and closing procedures, and daily operations Help build systems that improve consistency without making the restaurant feel overly corporate Communicate clearly with ownership about staffing, service, food quality, guest feedback, and operational concerns Protect the culture, values, and reputation of MorMor's at all times Who You Are Highly personable, engaging, and genuinely hospitality-minded Obsessed with creating an exceptional customer experience Warm and approachable, while still confident and authoritative Detail-oriented and unwilling to accept "good enough" Passionate and knowledgeable about great food, wine, ingredients, and service Comfortable moving between the dining room and kitchen throughout service Able to identify quality issues and address them respectfully but immediately Calm, composed, and solutions-oriented under pressure A strong communicator who sets clear expectations and follows through Hands-on, hardworking, and willing to step into any role when needed Emotionally intelligent and able to lead a small team with both warmth and accountability Excited to help grow a young restaurant while protecting its standards and personality Experience 2+ years of hands on hospitality experience Formal hospitality training preferred Prior management experience in a small, highly regarded, quality-focused restaurant (bib gourmand is our aspiration) Experience in restaurants with the culinary standards, hospitality, and attention to detail of places such as other bub gourmand or other acclaimed neighborhood restaurants Strong front-of-house leadership and guest-relations experience Demonstrated ability to train and manage a small restaurant team A sophisticated understanding of food quality, presentation, pacing, and consistency Experience managing service, staffing, scheduling, labor, and day-to-day restaurant operations Wine and beverage knowledge is strongly preferred Familiarity with Toast or similar restaurant systems is helpful What Success Looks Like This is an ideal role for someone who loves the energy of a small restaurant, has exceptionally high standards, and believes that truly memorable hospitality comes from warmth, attentiveness, excellent food, and genuine care Guests feel personally welcomed, recognized, and cared for Service is warm, polished, attentive, and consistent The dining room feels lively, organized, and effortless The team understands expectations and takes pride in meeting them Food arrives promptly and consistently meets MorMor's standards Guest concerns are handled thoughtfully and resolved quickly Regulars return frequently and first-time guests become loyal customers Ownership has a trusted leader who treats the restaurant as if it were their own Requirements Ability to work 3 evenings a week, including at least one weekend evening Ability to lift 30+lbs Ability to reliably commute to downtown Laguna Beach Food and Alcohol applicable service certificates Fluent English speaker, some Spanish preferred
