About the Position MHE Service Manager / Service Technician Lead Full-Time | On-Site We are seeking an experienced MHE Service Manager / Service Technician Lead to lead and support a team of technicians responsible for the maintenance and repair of material handling equipment, automated systems, and conveyors. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced forklift/MHE technician who is ready to take the next step into leadership, as well as an established Service Manager, Service Lead, or Lead Technician looking for their next opportunity. The ideal candidate is someone who can lead a team, prioritize daily service needs, communicate effectively with customers, and still get hands-on with troubleshooting and repairs when needed. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and support a team of MHE/service technicians. Assign daily work based on priorities, technician skill levels, customer needs, and operational requirements. Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on forklifts and other material handling equipment. Support maintenance and repairs of automated systems and conveyor equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment issues. Use diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, pressure gauges, diagnostic software, and specialized testing equipment. Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, repair manuals, parts manuals, and equipment diagrams. Train and mentor technicians through hands-on instruction, demonstrations, and real-time coaching. Help technicians develop advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ensure equipment meets OSHA, safety, and operational standards. Promote safe work practices, including proper PPE and lockout/tagout procedures. Resolve service, parts, warranty, and equipment-related issues. Coordinate with parts teams to ensure necessary parts and supplies are available. Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, inventory, and preventative maintenance records. Monitor technician productivity and service KPIs. Help the team meet efficiency, quality, safety, and customer service goals. Communicate with customers regarding equipment condition, repairs, recommendations, and service needs. Assist with onboarding and training new technicians. Support equipment installations, special projects, training, and other operational initiatives as needed. Travel regionally or nationally as needed for training, site support, special projects, or coverage. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service area. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or technical school education. 5+ years of mechanical/MHE experience , preferably with forklifts, material handling equipment, heavy equipment, or similar equipment. Experience leading, mentoring, training, or directing technicians or demonstrated ability and interest in stepping into a leadership role . Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. Ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems. Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize work and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a team. Experience with preventative maintenance and service documentation. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to safely operate lift trucks. Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Must provide your own mechanic hand tools. Preferred Qualifications Toyota forklift certification or equivalent manufacturer certification. Previous experience as a Service Manager, Service Lead, Shop Lead, Lead Technician, or similar leadership role . Experience with automated warehouse systems, conveyors, or other industrial equipment. Experience working directly with customers and managing service expectations. Senior Forklift/MHE Technicians who have been training, mentoring, or informally leading other technicians and are ready to move into a formal leadership position. Experienced MHE Technicians with strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills who want to grow into leadership.
