•85K/year based on experience Summary The Service Manager oversees the service department, ensuring strong customer relationships, efficient workflow, quality repairs, accurate billing, and a productive team. This role manages work orders, warranty claims, scheduling, technician development, safety, and service department performance while assisting with complex technical issues. Key Responsibilities Service & Customer Management Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Diagnose equipment issues, determine needed repairs, and communicate recommendations to customers. Open and close work orders promptly to minimize aged work-in-process. Complete invoices, service records, quality-control documentation, and job status reports. Prepare warranty claims and resolve customer invoicing issues. Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance. Maintain service pricing, flat rates, and quotes using established company guidelines. Maintain current knowledge of company and competitor products. Work with John Deere Territory Representatives, factory personnel, and engineers on complex technical issues. Department Management Plan technician workloads and service schedules based on demand. Monitor department productivity, billing efficiency, expenses, work-in-process, and gross margins. Conduct annual performance reviews for technicians. Maintain department tools, equipment, vehicles, and inventory. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Conduct monthly safety meetings. Training & Development Identify technician training needs and assist employees in obtaining required certifications. Stay current on equipment, diagnostic methods, technology, and repair procedures. Provide guidance and support to technicians on difficult repairs and technical issues. Administrative Maintain accurate work orders, reports, records, and documentation. Utilize Microsoft Office, John Deere communication tools, and other company systems. Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. Assist with parts deliveries, errands, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Two-year technical/college certificate or at least five years of related experience and/or training in a technician/service role. Strong knowledge of heavy construction equipment repair, tools, materials, and diagnostic methods. Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and develop effective solutions. Strong customer service and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office equipment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology, procedures, and processes. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to work with tools in confined spaces and use vibrating tools for extended periods. #LP
