Job Description
Front End Manager Job Description Christophers is seeking a talented full-time Front End Manager, with interests of moving up to a store manager position long term. Applicants must enjoy working with the public and have a friendly, outgoing personality. The ideal candidate is honest, dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and displays a positive attitude when interacting with customers and employees. The Front End Manager provides strong day to day leadership to cashiers, baggers, and greeters to achieve exceptional customer service, sales initiatives, merchandising goals, expense control, and overall financial and operational performance of the department, while also providing a safe and compelling shopping experience and working environment for our customers and associates. Responsibilities of the
Front End Manager:
- Oversees cashiers, baggers, and front office employees.
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging customers as they come into the store, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of service. Proactively takes steps to ensure all associates provide exceptional service.
- Motivates employees to maintain a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service,
- Responds positively to customer's inquiries and assists customers with purchases, information, and product selection; requires suggestive selling, cross selling of products, and other sales techniques.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with customers and employees.
- Provides coaching, counseling, and co-disciplining associates, planning, and monitoring job results with the management team.
- Ensures employees work and operate equipment in a safe manner at all times, complying with OSHA requirements; enforces safety, health, and security rules.
- Drives and models the company's culture of integrity and transparency within the store and the community.
- Coaches, develops, and trains Front End employees.
- Delegates work assignments effectively and ensures Front End team members are staying on track.
- Schedules lunches for cashiers, baggers, and greeters.
- Trains employees on their job responsibilities and operating procedures.
- Monitors cashiers, baggers to make sure they are following through on their job responsibilities.
- Knowledgeable of store, services, and locations of merchandise.
- Helps to minimize customer wait time and ensure the most efficient and timely check out.
- Serves as a role model and leads by example.
- Keeps department organized and clean at all times.
- Follows all federal, state and Christopher's guidelines for break regulations.
- Prioritizes and attends to the most critical tasks first.
- Maintains appropriate quantities of department supplies (bags, cash register tapes, etc.) throughout each business day.
- Assists with opening and closing the store, rotates Sunday and Holiday coverage with other managers.
- Balances office cash and cashier register tills Count drawers out for next shift if needed. Get change from bank, as needed, for the tills. Do daily deposits, if needed. Oversee all deposits for any errors. Maintain Rebate Checks for deposit, and Check Card Applications for mail.
- Supervise Lottery sales, maintain accurate records, and prepare cash for deposit.
- Write up bills as they come in daily.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma or equivalent. The Ideal Front End Manager will have the following:
- Prior retail experience desirable.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Proven record of superior customer service and problem-solving skills,
- Listens and communicates effectively with customers, staff and vendors,
- Solid understanding of how to operate the Front End of a retail establishment, preferably a grocery store,
