Job Description

I'm Mike Walsh
  • the Owner
  • you will be working directly with me. You should keep reading this if… You love dynamic situations where you can organize people and resources for maximum effectiveness. You thrive when given a new challenge. You see options where others see roadblocks, and can quickly pivot when situations change. You hate wasting time, and… You have a strong inner drive to do what's required when it's required
  • if not before.
You're hungry for training and development opportunities both at work and at home. You want to work your way into a leadership role. You want to work for a company whose mission includes making a difference for the people in their community. What it's like to work with me… I like having fun at whatever I'm doing (which made my former corporate masters very twitchy) and I want my people to have fun too. If we're not having fun at this, then what are we doing? I think and solve problems out loud. Some call it spit-balling. Some call it verbal ideation. If you're very literal and this sort of thing makes you crazy... I'm probably not for you. I like seeing the humor in a situation and seeing the positive side of life. I appreciate the uniqueness in everyone. I seek to capitalize on everyone's strengths and make their weaknesses irrelevant. I prefer a coaching style of leadership. That means I'll be asking you way more questions and giving you far fewer answers. I speak plainly, and what you see is what you get. I love winning, and I want to create an environment where everybody, including you, is winning. About Mike Walsh Painting and Decorating Who We Are We are a residential and commercial painting company who are changing the way our customers and all of our stakeholders experience trades contractors. What We Believe We believe that the painting industry has been broken for a long time and that everybody affected by what we do deserves better. We're being the change we want to see in our world. What We Stand For We stand for creating great value for ALL of our stakeholders. That means our customers, our vendors, our team members and our community. Why We're Looking Now We're going to grow by about 100% this year, and we expect to grow at a 50% rate in the coming years as well. We need people who love solving problems, like autonomy, and want to expand their capacity and expertise. What I'm Looking For From You Responsibilities Fundamentally, this job is two things at once: You're the friendly front door every customer walks through, AND You're the engine room that keeps our growth running behind the scenes. You're the first human a new lead talks to, the person who makes sure nobody ever falls through the cracks, and the one who keeps our marketing and our systems humming so the whole thing can scale. Some of the things you'll do are: Be the fast, friendly first response to every new lead
  • call them back quick, get them on the calendar, and make them feel like they picked the right company before we've even shown up. Take care of our customers by phone and email through their whole project, so the experience feels effortless from start to finish. Run our own marketing channels
  • email, referrals, direct mail, social
  • and actually grow them month over month. Make content that makes us look great
  • shoot simple video, post to social, and turn our finished jobs into stories, reviews, and referrals. Own our software
  • the CRM, the estimating platform, the phone system
  • and keep it clean, current, and working FOR us instead of against us. Build and document the little systems and processes that let us grow fast without dropping balls. Take on projects across the company to drive growth and make us more efficient. Jump on whatever needs doing when it needs doing
  • and figure out the stuff nobody's mapped out yet. What's Required
  • About YOU You genuinely like people, and it comes through on the phone. Taking great care of a customer feels good to you
  • it's not a chore. You are not afraid of software
  • you actually kind of love it. Hand you a tool you've never seen, and you lean in and figure it out. You don't sigh, you don't wait to be walked through every button, you dig in. This one is non-negotiable. If technology stresses you out, this isn't the seat for you
  • and that's completely okay. You've got a creative bone. You can make a decent video on your phone, you're comfortable on social media, and you have an eye for what looks good. You don't have to be a pro
  • you have to be willing and able. You're organized enough that details don't slip Messy situations make you want to fix them, not flee them. You see options where other people see roadblocks You're comfortable swimming in unexplored waters. You want to OWN an area and grow it
  • not just complete tasks and clock out. Proficient computer skills in Google Workspace apps, and the ability to learn new systems as they arise. Valid driver's license and willingness to drive responsibly
  • you'll get out to job sites now and then to grab photos and video for our marketing. The ability to listen for understanding. A burning desire to achieve goals and get s
  • t done.
