Job Description
East Bay Electric is seeking an experienced, organized Service Manager to lead and grow our electrical service department. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands electrical service work, can manage technicians and customer relationships, and keeps jobs moving from the initial call through final billing. Position Overview The Service Manager will oversee daily service operations, including technician scheduling, customer communication, estimating, work-order management, material coordination, quality control, and profitability. The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a practical electrical background and a commitment to responsive, high-quality service. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and hold accountable a team of electrical service technicians.
- Coordinate daily service schedules, emergency calls, preventative-maintenance work, and project-based service work.
- Review incoming service requests, define scope, assign the appropriate technician, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Prepare estimates, proposals, change orders, and repair recommendations.
- Review completed work orders for accurate labor, material, equipment, and customer billing information.
- Track service department productivity, labor efficiency, gross margin, callbacks, backlog, and customer satisfaction.
- Order and coordinate materials, equipment, rentals, and subcontracted work as needed.
- Conduct field visits, jobsite quality checks, safety observations, and customer meetings.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and identify opportunities for additional repairs, upgrades, and maintenance agreements.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable NEC requirements, local codes, company standards, and safety procedures.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate service technicians.
- Work closely with office staff, project managers, vendors, and customers to improve department communication and performance. Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical service experience, including commercial and/or residential troubleshooting and repair.
- Previous supervisory, foreman, service-management, or project-management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, service diagnostics, NEC requirements, and safe work practices.
- Experience preparing estimates and managing labor, material, and job-cost information.
- Ability to prioritize multiple service calls, deadlines, technicians, and customer needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, customer-service, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computers, email, scheduling platforms, and service-management or project-management software.
- Valid South Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- South Carolina electrical license is preferred. What We Offer
