Director of Milieu Services Sevierville, TN 37862 Quick Apply Overview Level Management Position Type Full Time Job Shift Any Education Level 2 Year Degree Travel Percentage None Category Management Quick Apply Description Position Summary The Director of Milieu Services oversees the daily administration of the residential program. This position provides supervision and oversight for Milieu Supervisors and Behavioral Health Technicians through hiring, onboarding, training, coaching and guidance. The Director of Milieu Services ensures the facility maintains a safe, engaging and therapeutic environment while delivering exceptional customer service. Position provides support to staff and clients through various clinical and administrative activities, aiming to achieve optimal client outcomes. Relationships and Contacts Within the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with peers, immediate supervisor, and leadership throughout the organization.

Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clients and families, clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed. Essential Responsibilities Provides leadership, operational oversight, and immediate supervision for Milieu Supervisors and Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) in support of client care throughout the treatment program, ensuring client safety and high-quality therapeutic engagement. Ensures adequate staffing levels are always maintained; coordinates staffing schedules to maximize efficiency while maintaining program integrity, quality and efficiency. Ensures that Behavioral Health Technicians consistently monitor and observe clients to ensure client safety throughout all program areas and activities including group participation, client rounding, status change communication, and ADL monitoring. Coordinates staffing needs based on census, admissions, and level of care precautions. Ensures the program operates safely and efficiently. Escalates risk exposure and/or customer service concerns, as necessary. Assists with difficult or emotional client situations, responds promptly to client needs, solicits feedback for continuous quality improvement. Ensures client belongings, persons and rooms are searched timely and in accordance to safety standards to prevent client's possession of contraband or other high-risk items. Communicates efficiently and effectively with members of the leadership team keeping them informed of any operational concerns or issues that may arise. Coordinates and conducts onboarding, orientation, competency and performance management for BHTs in a timely manner in partnership with leadership team ensuring department standards are consistently upheld. Responsible for ensuring that compliance standards are met regarding documentation and client care in accordance with industry standards and accreditation requirements and will address any compliance issues. Ensure that policies and procedures are being followed. Supports team member training and professional development. Develops shift assignment sheets and ensures that all duties are carried out by engaging in "management by walking around" being present in the milieu. Coordinates and facilitates daily shift briefing on all shifts respectively. Coordinates Daily shift report to hand off client updates and safety information. Facilitates regular monthly staff meetings with at least 90% staff attendance and disseminates minutes. Ensures all documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner on the day of service. Coordinates the facilitation of evening and weekend activities in partnership with clients and team members. Develops and creates group material, as needed. Actively engages with clients and direct care staff in the milieu and outside activities throughout the workday. Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to determine/select appropriate interventions to ensure client needs are met. Attends the weekly treatment team meetings and shares observations, comments and important information about clients with the treatment team; provides input into the development of the weekly client schedules. Additional Responsibilities Functions within the guidelines of the facility's Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance. Reads, understands, adheres to and models all company policy statements on ethics, conduct, and conflict of interests. Attends all supervisory training courses within assigned time frames as required by the facility. Produce reports or analyses, as needed. Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Assists with professional outreach, networking and marketing as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Education and Experience Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree strongly preferred along with a minimum of 5+ years' experience in a behavioral healthcare setting working with adults. Additionally, a minimum of 2+ years in a supervisory/managerial role is preferred. Physical Requirements Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies - may be very quiet to moderate Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell. Ability to move up to 25 pounds Skill Competencies Demonstrates an understanding of therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality requirements. Demonstrates strong leadership capability, including mentoring, performance coaching, and team development. Demonstrates the ability to recognize and respond to behavioral escalation and employ crisis-intervention techniques. Demonstrates sound judgment and discretion, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills and maintains professional working relationships. Demonstrates an understanding of safety, security, infection-control, and emergency procedures. Demonstrates the ability to observe, evaluate, and document client behaviors in groups and activities. Demonstrates respect for cultural diversity and individual client values. Demonstrates commitment to the goals, mission, and values of the organization.
