Job Description
The Board Store Home Improvements is looking for a motivated, organized, and customer-focused individual to join our Operations team as a Service Specialist. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers needing service after their home improvement project is complete. You will manage both interior and exterior service requests by gathering information, troubleshooting issues when possible, coordinating service appointments, ordering parts, and ensuring each concern is resolved promptly and professionally. You will also support the Operations team by helping projects move efficiently from sale through completion. If you enjoy solving problems, communicating with customers, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities Serve as the primary contact for customer service calls, emails, and service-related inquiries. Gather detailed information regarding service concerns and troubleshoot issues when appropriate. Determine the most effective course of action to resolve customer concerns while providing exceptional customer service. Prepare quotes for chargeable service work. Order service parts and materials as needed. Process project-related paperwork and accurately enter information into company software systems. Learn and support a variety of Operations functions, including permitting, material ordering, scheduling, service coordination, billing, and job closeout. Communicate effectively with customers, Sales, Operations, installers, and service technicians to ensure projects and service requests are completed successfully. Provide proactive communication to customers regarding project status, scheduling, and service updates. Escalate complex customer concerns or project issues to leadership when appropriate. Qualifications Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, including active listening and the ability to gather accurate information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to determine effective solutions. Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Comfortable learning and using multiple computer applications and software systems. Ability to learn home improvement products, installation processes, and project scopes. Basic construction knowledge and familiarity with Wisconsin and Minnesota residential building practices is preferred, but not required.
