Job Description

The client service specialist is responsible for all aspects of customer service for clients. Greets all clients in person and via phone. Sets up clinic appointments. Provides adoption counseling to clients. Manages and maintains clinic schedules accurately. Ensures the health, safety and overall well-being of cats at the shelter, including adoptable animals. Performs routine cleaning and disinfection of cat kennels, reports potential problems, assists with care of animals in isolation and implements behavior modification programs as need. Primary Responsibilities Performs daily cleaning of kennels, cages and public areas including disinfecting, hosing, sweeping, moving heavy cleaning of all cat/ kitten room or areas within the shelter that house felines whether temporally or permanent, front lobby, administrative corridor, offices, conference room, and restrooms. Provide exceptional and friendly customer service, greeting the public in person and on the telephone. Handle all front counter information and referral tasks. Provide adoption counseling and animal welfare advice as requested. Process animal adoptions in accordance with
SYVHS/DAWG
Adoption Procedures. Assist the public with relinquishments and notify SBCAS of any animals' stray animals left at our facility. Supports Front end Supervisor including assistance with public communications, creation of forms/flyers, and other clerical duties as assigned. Process sales and donations with the use of a Point of Sale system. Provide SYV Humane/DAWG services that include, but are not limited to, the sale of SBCAS , clinic, donations and distribution, cat trap rentals, and retail sales. Help organize, stock, and manage inventory of retail store. Generate flyers and signage as needed. Provide clerical assistance to staff, volunteers and/or board members. Assist with public events and fundraisers as required. Performs regular health and behavior checks on all adoptable felines to ensure continued health and wellness. Administers veterinary treatments to shelter animals in consultation with a veterinarian. Responds to staff/ volunteer reports of health or behavior problems. Implements, supports, and supervises disease control and safety protocols to ensure a safe, healthy environment. Supervises socialization, training and exercise regimen for all felines. Supervises nutrition and feeding schedules for all felines and isolation animals. Communicates behavioral and medical needs of our adoptable felines to staff and counsels potential adopters as needed. Reviews, maintains and orders adequate inventory of supplies for the felines within our care to ensure uninterrupted shelter operations within annual budget. Providing direct care to dogs and cats as directed. Feeding and medicating animals as directed. Assisting the general public as they select animals for adoption. Supervising volunteers who assist in the care of animals. Ensure that equipment is kept clean and in proper working order. Follows protocols established by Executive Director Performs other duties as assigned.
Employment Standards Knowledge of:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent Previous animal handling experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Full mobility of arms and legs, ability to walk on uneven surfaces and/ or stand for up to 1 to 2 hours at a time, ability to lift up to 40 lbs., sitting, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing; no animal allergies.
