Building & Zoning Department Pay Rate:
$16-$17 per hour (depending on experience) The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications for a full-time Staff Assistant / Permitting Clerk within the Building & Zoning Department. This position is responsible for providing administrative and customer service support while assisting the public with permitting and zoning-related processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong clerical and organizational skills, excellent customer service abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment. Work Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Minimum Qualifications Experience as a Staff Assistant, Office Clerk, or similar administrative role Strong customer service and public interaction experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to multitask and prioritize daily duties efficiently Typing speed of at least 55 words per minute Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience with permitting, zoning, or building department processes Essential Duties & Responsibilities Answer phones and assist the public professionally and courteously Assist customers with permitting applications and procedures Support the Building Official with plan review processes Handle correspondence, emails, and phone calls promptly Schedule inspections for the Building Official Accept and reconcile payments Perform general administrative and clerical duties as assigned Benefits Gilchrist County full-time employee benefits include: Employee-only Florida Blue Plan Vacation and sick leave 12 paid holidays $25,000 life insurance policy Additional Information Thank you for your interest in employment with Gilchrist County.
