Job Overview Join our dynamic retail team as a Cashier/Customer Service Associate, where your energy and enthusiasm will create a welcoming shopping experience for every customer. In this role, you'll be the friendly face that assists customers with their purchases, handles transactions efficiently using POS (Point of Sale) systems, and provides exceptional service that keeps customers coming back. Your proactive approach will help ensure smooth store operations, promote products through upselling and product demos, and maintain an inviting environment in a fast-paced grocery store setting. Responsibilities Operate POS systems accurately to process sales, returns, and exchanges with speed and precision. Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product selections. Conduct product demos when applicable to showcase features and benefits to customers. Upsell related products or promotions to enhance the shopping experience and increase sales. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, ensuring merchandise is well-stocked and appealing through merchandising and stocking duties. Handle cash, credit card transactions, and other forms of payment with accuracy while adhering to cash handling procedures. Demonstrate strong phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely. Support team members by supervising or mentoring new staff when needed, fostering a collaborative environment. Assist in inventory management tasks such as stock replenishment and inventory counts to ensure product availability. Promote a positive shopping experience by maintaining clear communication skills and a friendly attitude at all times. Qualifications Prior experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key! Familiarity with POS systems and basic retail math for handling transactions confidently. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in bilingual environments if applicable. Experience in grocery store operations or merchandising is a plus. Demonstrated ability to handle cash accurately and maintain high standards of phone etiquette. Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work in a fast-paced environment comfortably. A positive attitude combined with excellent customer service skills to create memorable shopping experiences.
