Full Job Description About Rock Valley Packaging:

Founded in 1985, Rock Valley Packaging is a custom packaging manufacturer located in Loves Park, Illinois. We produce folding cartons, rigid setup boxes, litho-laminated corrugated packaging, retail displays, and specialty packaging solutions for customers across many industries. We are looking for someone who communicates well, follows through, and helps move customer opportunities from inquiry to quote.

Position Summary:

Rock Valley Packaging is hiring a Sales Assistant / Customer Service Support person to help our sales team identify, qualify, and support new and existing customer opportunities. This role is a mix of customer service, inside sales support, lead qualification, quote follow-up, and administrative support.

Important:

This position includes making outbound calls to leads and prospective customers. The goal is not high-pressure selling. The goal is to ask good questions, gather project details, determine whether the opportunity is a good fit, and help the sales team prepare accurate quotes.

What You Will Do:

• Make outbound calls to new leads, inactive customers, and prospective customers to qualify packaging opportunities.
• Ask customers clear questions about their packaging needs, product details, quantities, timelines, artwork, materials, and project goals.
• Answer incoming customer calls and emails professionally and direct requests as needed.
• Gather complete quote information so the sales team can respond quickly and accurately.
• Follow up on open quotes, sample requests, and customer questions to keep opportunities moving.
• Enter and maintain customer, lead, quote, and project information in CRM and ERP systems.
• Prepare basic quote information using internal calculators and templates after training.
• Review purchase orders and customer specifications for accuracy and completeness.
• Work with sales, design, estimating, production, and customer service to help customers get answers.
• Maintain organized notes, quote files, customer records, and follow-up tasks.

What We Are Looking For:

• Comfortable making phone calls and speaking with customers, vendors, and prospects.
• Friendly, professional, and confident communication style.
• Strong follow-up habits and the ability to keep track of multiple open opportunities.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and accurate with notes, specifications, and data entry.
• Ability to learn packaging terminology, quoting details, and manufacturing processes.
• Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and basic computer tools.
• Dependable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Customer service, inside sales, sales assistant, quoting, estimating, manufacturing, or packaging experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.
